He was born in Dublin, Ireland in the year of 1971. Who is it? John Boyne of course. He went to Trinity College in Dublin and he studied English Literature there. He then went on to attend the University of East Anglia (in Norwich) to study creative writing.
Little did he know at the time that he was going to be an internationally renowned author loved by many all around the world. During University, He was awarded with the Curtis Brown Prize. John started his writing career by writing a lot of short stories (some of which he published).
His first fully written and published book was titled The Entertainments Jar. This book was a Massive success because it was shortlisted for The Hennessy Literacy award. That got him motivate to write even more. And he did, because since then, he has published more than eleven full-sized novels! During his lifetime, Mr. Boyne has published a staggering total of over seventy short stories.
In the year of 2006, John thought he had published just another average book called Boy In The Striped Pyjamas. He couldn't have been more wrong. In fact, it was made into an award winning movie!
The Book won several book awards back in the United Kingdom, and won several book awards internationally. In addition, The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas was deemed number one book in Ireland for over eighty staggering weeks. Plus, got onto the New York Times Bestseller list and won the best selling book for two years (2007-2008) in Spain. So far, the book has sold in excess of five million copies and has gained numerous accolades.
Also, all of John Boyne's novels are published in several languages. Some of his books are even published in forty six different languages. These languages include English, Spanish and German.
John Boyne has published eleven novels. Eight of them, novels for adults, and three of them, novels for young readers. His latest book is called STAY WHERE YOU ARE AND THEN LEAVE which has just been published in the United Kingdom. The United States version and international copies will be coming out in 2014.
